PARENT ORIENTATION SCHEDULE

The parent orientation session is an opportunity for new families to come in and find out what Kumon is all about. The session will open at 1:30 pm, it is on a drop-in basis, so no appointment is required. While parents/guardians fill out some information forms, our highly trained staff will administer placement tests in math, reading or both to your child(ren). At 2:00 pm parents/guardians will watch a presentation explaining (in detail) how the Kumon program works, and what to expect. Each family will then speak to the instructor or senior staff member about the results of the child(ren)s placement test(s), and will have an opportunity to ask any questions or inform the instructor of any special needs or circumstances your child or family may have. Once the placement test has been viewed, each family will be able to enroll in the program, by selecting their preferred start date and class days. This process will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.

***Please note, the parent presentation must be viewed by at least one parent/guardian in attendance. This presentation begins promptly at 2:00 pm, so please plan to arrive on time. Families arriving after 2:00 pm will be unable to attend the session in progress, however, we invite them to return the following Saturday for the next session.
In order to enroll in the Kumon program, a Visa, Mastercard or Void Cheque is required. If you intend to sign up on the test date, please have your payment information available for processing.

How to Enroll Your Child

Step 1

Call the centre to book a free Parent Orientation and Placement Test for your child.

Step 2

Attend the Parent Orientation, and have your child take the placement test. Meet with your instructor to learn about Kumon’s individualized learning method, and review the results from your child’s placement test.

Step 3

Review your child’s progress goal plan. Based on your child’s placement test results, the instructor will create a two-year academic plan to help your child reach his or her goals.

Step 4

Enroll your child. Students will attend the centre twice a week, and complete daily assignments at home. Your instructor will design an individualized lesson plan for your child that will be monitored, and changed as needed to be sure he or she is on track to reach his or her goals.

Step 5

Schedule your 30-day post-enrollment meeting. Your instructor will set a date to meet with your family after 30 days of enrollment to evaluate your child’s performance and ensure the program is going smoothly.
